For a Texas Hill Country community, this is unusually good hospital access — many comparable lake markets are significantly further from a full-service hospital.

For major medical procedures, sub-specialty care, Level I trauma, and academic medicine, Austin is 60 to 70 minutes from most Lake LBJ communities. For larger shopping needs — major appliances, clothing, specialty retail, Costco or Sam's Club — Austin or the Hill Country region H-E-B Plus locations are the destination. The 60 to 70-minute Austin drive is a planned trip rather than a casual errand, but it is significantly more accessible than the supply situation at more remote lake markets elsewhere in Texas and around the country.

Schools

Lake LBJ families with school-age children are served by Marble Falls ISD (Burnet County properties) and Llano ISD (Llano County properties). Marble Falls ISD operates multiple campuses and has grown substantially as the Highland Lakes area has developed. The district provides standard public school curriculum with extracurricular programs commensurate with a growing suburban district. Llano ISD is smaller and more rural in character. Both are manageable for families — but buyers comparing to large suburban Dallas or Houston ISDs should have realistic expectations about program breadth.

Air Access

Horseshoe Bay Resort Airport is a private airstrip accessible to resort members and affiliates, with a paved runway capable of handling small jets and turboprops. Austin-Bergstrom International Airport — a major commercial hub with Southwest, American, United, Delta, and multiple international carriers — is 60 to 70 minutes from Lake LBJ by car. For buyers who travel frequently for business or who are relocating from cities with major air connectivity requirements, the Austin airport access from Lake LBJ is meaningfully better than what comparable lake markets in more remote Hill Country locations offer.
